Year in Review...

Hi,

so this is it for 2006. Almost.
Just a couple work days left.

I would say aside from 2003, when i got married, this has been a great year.
no diss to 2004, and 2005 (like they got feelings...) but 2006 was eventful, challenging, faith building and awesome.

Highlights:
Not in sequential order, since bowling highlights came before the baby, but not as important.
July 10th, 2006. Eleanor Hae In Chon, came into our lives. changed forever.
August 1st, 2006. Mom undergoes surgery for stomach cancer. Result: family pulls closer together and closer to God.
August 27th 2006: eleanor rolls over from front side to back side on her own.
October 14th 2006. We celebrated 100th day for Eleanor with tons of family and guests.
November 19th 2006. eleanor tries solid foods for the first time and loves it.
April 10th, 2006. On my birthday i bowl a 256. Career high. I think i rolled 7 strikes in a row! And overall series was sick too.
November 23, 2006. I placed 2nd place in Turkey Shoot bowling tournament for net career prize money of 180 bucks!
December 4th 2006. Skynet becomes aware.... haha JKJK. just throwing in a little movie lines. Actually I bowled a 256 series. for average of 218 for 3 games. REAL TARGET: 700 series.

Life is Good.
Eleanor is growing everyday
My relationship with my wife has improved so much this year
My mom is progressing in her recovering from cancer and the chemo treatments.
Eagles are in the playoffs
Bowling is progressing to the goal for PBA. (bowling and someone pays you money! imagine that, thats being a professional! hahaha) Not that i need the money, just would be cool to have on the resume!

If I dont post before the new year, sorry folks. Its kind of busy.

Hug your wife, kiss her too.
Kiss your kids and don't spoil them too much...

Personal Update

I realized a couple things
or had some personal reflection
A regular person can only be excellent at 1 or 2 things.
An exceptional person may be able to be excellent at 3 or 4 things over the course of time and effort.

I had to evaluate who i am, and what i am about.
1. I want to be an agent of God and change in the community. To bring hope to people, to help people gain self respect and ethic.
2. I want to be an excellent family man. Husband and father. i guess its like 2a and 2b.
3. I am working to become an excellent real estate professional. First in sales as a sales agent, and after 3 years and 240 hours of continuing education, a broker/property manager. The property management/broker aspect can create a lot of commerce and jobs for people. Also i would like setup nice passive investments for people. (i do believe this goal will take at least 3 to 10 years to accomplish)
4. PBA. Professional bowler. I looked over the website. The requirements eased up a bit. Carry 200 average over 36 weeks in sanctioned league play. then "cash" in the money in a regional PBA tournament. Then i can become a card carrying member of the PBA. ( i averaged +200 in the past 2 weeks of league play!) but to do this for 1 year is not easy. I won't be able to do it this year because my league missed 2 weeks due to the holiday. I think i will have to work towards the goal in the 2007-2008 season.

It's time to dig in, and work towards the goals.

Books to read, things to learn, and time to apply on whats important.
It's time to find out if I am an exceptional person.

I hope that God will help me accomplish the goals set before me.
and i also know that my wife and daughter will be there to help me.

I guess this is like a personal 2006 year in review/next 5 year goal.

Christmas

Hi Christmas was very nice this year.

I was thinking about things.

When a baby comes into your life, your life is changed forever. usually.
things change for parents.
I find i do lots of things diffrently now

1. i drive more carefully
2. i see other kids and smile more
3. i budget differently
4. goals as a parent and goals for eleanor

but some parents don't see their child that way. More of a burden.
more of a shackle. They want to party and do things they used to still do...

Christmas: we celebrate Jesus coming to the world. We see images of him as this little baby. I know that when Jesus became a part of my life, things changed too.

And this Christmas, i was reminded of that. I hope that I am always profoundly impacted by Jesus in the same way. Decision making, habits, actions, goals.

Sam
so i have some new years goals already...

Sitting upright

Hi

eleanor is advancing in her physical strength and development.

she can sit up, and stay that way for quite some time

some previous pics were staged. i propped her up for photo taking purposes

then she fell over within a couple seconds,

but now, she is all good.

Sora says she is almost in the crawl position. I dont think she is ready yet...

Anyhow i have a new hobby, simulating eleanor standing up by herself!

I am hiding behind her holding her up. you can see my outline if you look closely.

note, its not good to try and make your baby stand and stuff too early. I think its bad for her legs. So dont do this too much.

haha
Sam

hello moto...

hehe

eleanor likes cell phones...

Thats sora's old LG when we were on verizon.

Eleanor definitely is in the clutch and grab phase. Is she can get her saliva covered hands on something, she will grab. examine and try to get into her mouth.

So i have to be careful.

She has her favorites, but one strange thing is, she likes tags on toys , more than the toy itself. odd.

Almost six months

Hi,
it's been nearly six months since our daughter came into our life.

She has grown so much. She is getting smarter, and learning things about parents, and the world around her.

Since thanksgiving she has been sleeping in her own room. We heard that if you don't move your child into his/her own room before six months, then you have to wait unto 3 years to try the move again.

Imagine that? I thank God we got that crib from our brother in law James.

Eleanor doesn't seem to mind.

After visiting our friends in NY, we learned a lot about sleep training from other first time parents. "sleep training" = purposeful discipline for mom and dad.

We have a baby monitor. Sometimes sleep training means turning down the volume a bit and let the baby cry things out.

Eleanor has only surpassed 30 minutes one time, and that was because she genuinely didn't need a nap time. The rest of the time she doesn't exceed 20 minutes.

She has been sleeping better since we buckled down with the sleep training.

Before it was like this: 8:30 pm sleep.
wake up 1:30 - sora go into room, soothe refeed, sleep - 2 oz formula
wake up 3:30 - Sora go into room soothe refeed sleep - 2 oz formula
Wake up 5:30 or 6 am - sam wake up, sora actually sleep.
Baby plays from 6 am until 7:30 with daddy. usually sitting with daddy on futon and playing.

Not good for parents, not good for formula wastage, not good in general. Sora is not rested, and not sleeping much.

Now its more like this

Put eleanor down to sleep 8;30 pm or 9 pm after bath.
she fusses sometimes, but usually sleeps.
cries for us at 1:30, we sleep, she goes back to sleep.
Wakes up 6:30 with wet diaper, and hungry appetite.

Sora sleeps, daddy takes baby in the AM... sometimes, eleanor plays by herself for 40 minutes more just enjoying her wake up time. But she is most happy when she sees daddy or mommy come into the room.

We told our neighbors to not be alarmed if they hear eleanor cry for 20 minutes. but we have her in one of the interior bedrooms where no one except us can really hear her cries.

so, that mostly it for sleep training.

As weeks pass the crying time is supposed to shorten.
And she will learn to sleep for up to 10 -11 hrs. Which would be nice!

I am so thankful to my wife. because you have to be in agreement with your spouse if you want to succeed. And i am thankful to eleanor, for allowing us to work with her thru her emotional development.

Hopefully sleep training will lead to well behaved happy child behavior, and all the demon child spoil brattyness will not befall us...

imagine this for the next 18 years...

Sorry Sorry!

Its' been so long
I am so sorry

the baby is 155 days old now.

She is getting bigger.
Eating lots of fruits and baby food.

Target had a closeout on some delmonte organics stage 1. 32 cents a piece. so we snapped up all the applesauce.

Eleanor likes anything she can reach and grab.

She even likes poland spring. Unfortunately, i will have to tell her its' not from Maine anymore.

oh well

Bowling we are doing good

Last week i had a 655 series. so. 218 average across 3 games.
unfortunately a person on the opposing team went off for a 729 series!

Anyhow, bowling is good.

Reflections

If most of the food goes in smooth (formula and baby food), how does a baby product "nutty" poop? like she sneaks peanuts in her diet when we are not looking.

haha?

Also: when it comes to baby stuff, only the best right? especially for a first baby? Then howcome we are so happy to get hand me down baby items?

Eleanor was sleeping on a little mattress until our brother in law james brought the crib from virginia... haha
